Reconstructive surgery differs from cosmetic surgery
in that it attempts to take what is abnormal and make it normal.
Cosmetic surgery takes what is normal and makes it better. Reconstructive
procedures can be done to correct deformities present at birth or
those which develop or occur secondary to trauma, surgery, injury
or other causes.
